w00t w00t Someone at Nintendo must be reading WPG and listened when we said we don’t mind seeing unfinished screenshots! Tons of announcements, video, and screenshots in the Nintendo Direct released this morning. Nintendo announced a new Zelda game for Wii U — a remake of Wind Waker in HD with short clips and 9 screenshots. No worries, Nintendo has also announced that an all new Zelda game is also in the works for Wii U. Screenshots aren’t the only thing Nintendo listened to us about. Remember way back when I told them to make a new 3D Super Mario game? No screenshots or video of the new Mario 3D game were released, but Nintendo stated that it will be a brand new 3D Mario Action game and will be playable at E3 this year. Also announced is a brand new Mario Kart game for Wii U to be playable at E3 this year as well. As predicted a new Yoshi game for Wii U was also revealed, dubbed “Yarn Yoshi” featuring striking similarities to Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Communities will be included in the new Wii Fit U “game” coming out this year which should help friends encourage each other to meet their fitness goals. Also coming soon after the spring Wii U System Update will be the Wii U’s native virtual console which will allow gamers to play NES, Super NES, and GameBoy Advance games without the need to switch to Wii mode. Sadly those of you who have purchased virtual console games for your Wii will have to transfer them to the Wii U, and then pay $1 for NES games and $1.50 for Super NES games to have access to them from the enhanced Wii U virtual console. Not cool Nintendo, not cool at all. Better news for Virtual Console fans is that each month a new NES game will be released for the 30th anniversary low price of 30 cents. MiiVerse will be coming to Android and iPhones via a browser based system initially followed by native apps soon after. The Spring and Summer updates to the Wii U operating system will improve the performance, reducing the painfully slow load times currently experienced by gamers.
